Every year, the Wallowa County Stockgrowers awards academic scholarships to local kids pursuing a career in an agriculture or related field. This scholarship has been in place since the early 1970s. The Wallowa County Agricultural Resource Foundation (WCARF) is now the nonprofit foundation under the Stockgrowers group that makes donations to this scholarship fund tax deductible.
The money raised from this event determines how much we will be able to present in scholarships this fall. Last year we were able to award $8,000.00 to eligible applicants. These substantial scholarships are very important in helping Wallowa County kids pursue their degrees.
Community support is vital in helping keep this scholarship program a success. Money donated, in any amount, goes directly to the scholarship fund. We also appreciate any items donated that we then will auction or raffle at our scholarship dinner this year. Some ideas include gift certificates (in any value), items we may group together for a themed “bucket raffle” as well as larger items used in a live auction.
If you wish to donate an item for the dinner auction, we would appreciate having those by the 25th of January if possible. We will happily accept monetary donations any time of year, however, if donations are received prior to the end of January, we will be able to recognize you and your business in our Thank You in the paper.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
Sincerely, WCARF Committee Members
