Lostine Community Celebrates Becoming Firewise!

WALLOWA RESOURCES — On Saturday, October 12th, 2019, the Lostine Canyon neighborhood celebrated becoming northeast Oregon’s first nationally recognized “Firewise” community – or a community of landowners coming together to take steps to reduce their collective wildfire risk.

Saturday’s ceremony commemorated the efforts of the many partners it took to support the Lostine Community including: Jerome Natural Resource Consultants, Creative Resource Solutions, Jenny Reinheardt (former Wallowa Community Wildfire Protection Plan Coordinator), Oregon Department of Forestry, Wallowa County Commissioners, Soil Water Conservation District, Lostine Fire Chief Dustin Tippett, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Wallowa Whitman National Forest, American Forest Foundation, My Blue Mountains Woodland Partnership, and Sinclair Brothers Tree Services, and more!

You can learn more about the Lostine Firewise Community HERE.  If you’d like more information, please contact Alyssa Cudmore at or (541) 426-8053 ext.28.
