Annual Tree Giveaway (sponsored by Pendleton Parks and Recreation, U.S. Forest Service, the Tree Commission, and the Parks and Recreation Commission)

The annual Arbor Day tree giveaway is scheduled for Saturday April 13, 2019. It will take place from 10a.m.-2p.m. in the Walmart parking lot, near the grocery entrance.

Volunteers are scheduled to give away the free tree seedlings. The trees will be given away first come, first served, along with informational handouts.

Varieties available include Blue Elderberry, Redosier Dogwood, Golden Currant, Quaking Aspen.

Each year’s event is popular, and the event sponsors welcome the opportunity to engage with the public to hand out free tree seedlings, answer questions, and provide a wide variety of information on trees.

Arbor Day is celebrated nationwide on an annual basis. Each state and municipality sets the date. Oregon’s Arbor Week is the first full calendar week in April.
