The 2015 annual horse judging tour was held Sunday afternoon, April 12th, 2015. Twenty-nine 4-H members judged four equine classes, one class of oral reasons, one class of identification and a class of hay. The members judged a Western Equitation class, a class of Mules, ranch geldings, and a class of Paint mares at the fairgrounds. A total of 350 points in the judging contest was possible.
Anna Rinehart, a senior, was the overall high point judge with a score of 336, Jimmy Wells (Intermendiate) was 2nd with a score of 335, and intermediate, Deidre Schreiber was 3rd with a score of 329. This is the first horse judging contest of the year. Members will have the opportunity to judge again at the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and at the Wallowa County Fair. Their scores will be compiled and the top intermediate and senior judges will qualify to represent Wallowa County at the state competition.
In the senior division (ages 15-19), Anna Rinehart placed first (336), Calli Miller, second (326) and Gabrielle Wells third (324), and Sarah Aschenbrenner.
In the intermediate division (ages 12-14), Jimmy Wells placed first (335), opkHDeidre SDeidre Schreiber second (329) and Brianna Micka, third (324).
Other intermediates judging were:, Rylee Wilcox, Teagan Miller, Ella Anderson, Bethany Anderson, Lexi Gassett and Ashlie McAfee. Juniors (ages 9-11); Bailey Vernam, first (321); Casidee Harrod second (313); Chance Arbogast third (298).
Other Juniors judging included: Destiny Barney, Maggie Zacharias, Johanna Wells, and Kasey Duncan. First year juniors: Eva Anderson first (298); Josi Coggins second (290); Addie Royes third (287). Other first year juniors judging were: Madison Jeffreys, Rosie Movich-Fields, Maci Marr, Mason McDowell, Libby Fisher, Harlie Stein and Quincee Zacharias.
